Kitsap County is partnering with the Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center (KIAC) to create greater reach and awareness of the resources KIAC provides to those who want to become citizens. We hope to have an Oath Ceremony in the County Chambers which community members can be invited to. This will be a small window into the legal immigration process for non-immigrants, as well as a publicized event that highlights that naturalization assistance is nearby and affordable.
We are also planning on hosting citizenship clinics at the county offices. We believe that if many of the local Lawful Permanent Residents knew that low-cost legal and educational support were readily available, they would be more likely to seek naturalization and become fully integrated citizens. This partnership will help provide visibility and affirmation to that message.
